In Otter News …
A determined group of RACCCers, led by explorer extraordinaire Karen Hurd, set out from Ferguson Falls, paddling great distances (ok, 7 km) up the Mississippi River, fighting fierce winds (alright, gusts of 33 km/hr), on a mission to track down elusive otters feeding on clam shells.

Although unsuccessful in cracking that case wide open, they did manage to discover two graceful white swans madly in love, a plethora of prehistoric great blue herons practicing their take-offs and landings, a protective mother loon nurturing her precious loonlet on her back, various hungry birds of prey circling the grey skies for their next meal, not to mention three “don’t mess with us” snapping turtles.

All paddlers somehow managed to return, no worse for wear.
