June 17 2023

Our group of eight had planned to go to Plaisance but the smoke from Quebec wildfires made us alter our plan. In the end, six of us headed to Burritts Rapids locks. We paddled 5 km towards Nicholson locks with a good tailwind. Everyone liked seeing the herons and other wildlife. At the lock station we enjoyed our snacks. We had participants from Germany, Vietnam and Slovenia so our conversation had an international

flair! All were passionate about canoeing and worked well as a team. By noon we were paddling back towards Burritts Rapids locks against a stiff wind. No problem. We ate our lunches at Burritts Rapids lock station and took a few photos. The group hiked the pretty 3 km Tip to Tip trail which started at Burritts Rapids lock station. We learned how locks worked and watched the lock staff as they allowed boats to pass through the locks. We returned our club canoes and headed to Daniel’s place for a hearty supper. A fun day was had by all. Thank you for leading us and keeping us in line Daniel!
