Flatwater Training

raccc solo training with becky masonPrerequisites: Participants need permission from the instructor as well as completed Paddle Canada Lake Introduction to Canoe Solo Certification or ORCKA  equivalent.
Course only open to RACCC members.
16 years of age or older (Minors must come with a parent/guardian.  Parent does not need to register or participate in the canoeing.)
All participants should be comfortable swimming while wearing a PFD.

This weekend includes simultaneous Paddle Canada Lake Canoe Skills Intermediate and Advanced Solo courses.
Participants will be assessed and receive instruction according to their skill level.
More info will be provided to participants in late July. A planning meeting will be held 1 week prior to the course.

Refine basic paddling skills, new compound strokes and maneuvers, running turns and slides, precision dock landings, variation in pivot points, canoe self rescues and more. We will include some synchronized paddling to challenge our precision and paddling skills.

Date and Time: 10:00 AM Friday to 4:00 PM Sunday:  August 28-29-30
Each of the days include: instruction and practice times as well as onland theory and free time.

Location: Gracefield Camp at the 'second beach'.  
Participants will organize their own tent/sleeping equipment as well as plates/cups/utensils
Participants collaborate on meal planning/cooking/sharing  (RACCC has cooking utensils/pots/stove)

This is an onsite overnight camping weekend so, participants will need to organize their own camping equipment:
tent, sleeping mat, sleeping bag.
More info to be provided closer to the weekend.
- The RACCC has canoes, paddles and Personal Floatation Devices (PFDs)
- Private boats may be used: to be pre-approved by course instructor.
