There is an excellent ice cream shop/factory in Renfew that is a bit hard to find if you don't know where to look. And it's only $3.25 for a two scoops in a waffle cone!
SUP Intro Clinic - Witnessed by the Meech Loons 2013
Two friendly frolicking fishing loons and Meech Lake witnessed 8 adults on SUP boards this past week with really loooooong paddles taking to the water on their feet. Yes, on our feet! Paddling while Standing UP, or simply SUPing. Our Coach/instructor Jodi Bigelow, had us learning how to carry, assemble, launch and mount our SUP boards, from the tail, and take our first few SUP baby steps.
Then the fun started, some wanted to progress directly to the expert level in a single lesson and try some pirouettes but forgot to keep an active paddle

SLALOM WW - Race Series - free&open to ALL!
This inclusive sport allows anyone to Paddle with the best - or just come to watch, learn (& drool)!
The first of the series of three Open Canoe Slalom races is June 26. This is a friendly informal and usually small, opportunity to test our gate running skills. It is run on the Madawaska in front of the Madawaska Kanu Centre and is free. We all take turns judging the limited amount of categories. No matter what your slalom experience this is a chance to see some of the best local talent and paddle with them.

Rules for Private Trips
Burritt's Rapids Paddle May 4
A club tradtion, the weather was warm and sunny for the Burritt's Rapids Paddle on the Rideau River. There was a good turnout and we had the river to ourselves. At Nicholson's Locks, we had lunch and walked up the canal to admire the upper lock and weirs. There were also a large number of turtles sunning themselves near the lunch spot. Guests
There is a charge for bringing a guest on club (or private trips). Registration forms must completed by guests and are provided as attachments to this article. These forms are available in the shed or at the East Desk.
Members are encouraged to bring guests on trips. It is a great way to introduce the RACCC to potential new members. A member may bring up to two guests on a RACCC trip or a private trip (with parental permission for children). Members are responsible for their guest's safety and conduct.
Any non-member in a club boat on a private trip must purchase a Guest Membership.
- Adult Evening and one day: 10.00$
- Adult Weekend (2-3 days): 15.00$
- Adult beyond a weekend: purchase annual club membership
- Junior Guest: $0.
An adult guest must:
- be at least 18 years or older;
- have purchased a RACCC guest membership for the trip; and
- have completed the guest registration form.
